The Story of Rama
Long ago, in the kingdom of Ayodhya, there lived a noble prince named Rama. He was brave, wise, and loved by all. Rama was the eldest son of King Dasharatha and was chosen to be the next king.
But just before his coronation, Rama's stepmother, Queen Kaikeyi, demanded that her son Bharata be made king instead, and that Rama be banished to the forest for 14 years. Bound by his promise to her, King Dasharatha sadly agreed.
Without anger or complaint, Rama left for the forest, taking his devoted wife Sita and loyal brother Lakshmana with him. They lived a simple life among sages and wild animals.
But one day, a demon king named Ravana kidnapped Sita and took her to his island kingdom of Lanka. Rama was heartbroken, but he did not give up. With the help of the monkey god Hanuman and an army of monkeys and bears, Rama crossed the sea, fought a fierce battle, and defeated Ravana, rescuing Sita.
After the 14 years were over, Rama returned to Ayodhya, where the people welcomed him with joy and celebration. He was crowned king, and his rule—called Rama Rajya—was a time of peace, justice, and happiness.
