Oceans cover more than 70% of our planet and are home to countless species. They give us oxygen, regulate the climate, and provide food and jobs to millions of people. Unfortunately, our oceans are in danger due to pollution, overfishing, and climate change.
Every year, millions of tons of plastic waste end up in the sea, harming marine animals like turtles and fish. Overfishing has reduced many fish populations, while rising carbon emissions make oceans more acidic, threatening coral reefs and marine life.In India alone, tons of plastic ends up in rivers which flows to the sea and pullute it !
The SDG goal Life Below Water aims to protect and restore our oceans. Its goals include reducing pollution, using sustainable fishing methods, creating marine protected areas, and supporting small-scale fishers.
We all have a role to play. Simple actions like avoiding single-use plastics, eating sustainable seafood, and participating in beach clean-ups can make a big difference. Healthy oceans mean a healthy planet—and a better future for all.
