Child labor refers to the exploitation of children through work that is mentally, physically, socially, or morally harmful, and interferes with their education. Globally, such practices are prohibited by law, though some exceptions exist, such as work by child artists, family duties, or supervised training. In India, the 2011 census reported over 10 million child laborers aged 5-14 out of a total of 259.64 million children in that age group. All work done by children under the age of 15 and dangerous work done by children under the age of 18 is illegal.
