Greenhouse Gas Emissions
The primary driver of global warming is the accumulation of greenhouse gases (GHGs) such as carbon dioxide (CO₂), methane (CH₄), and nitrous oxide (N₂O). These gases trap heat in the Earth's atmosphere, creating a “greenhouse effect.” -
Deforestation
Forests act as carbon sinks, absorbing CO₂ from the atmosphere. When trees are cut down for agriculture or urban development, stored carbon is released, and fewer trees remain to absorb future emissions. -
Industrial Activities
Factories, power plants, and vehicles emit large quantities of greenhouse gases. Industrialization has accelerated global warming since the 19th century, with emissions increasing dramatically. -
Agriculture
Livestock farming produces methane, while fertilizers release nitrous oxide—both potent greenhouse gases.
Effects of Global Warming
-
Rising Sea Levels
Melting glaciers and ice caps, along with the thermal expansion of seawater, contribute to rising sea levels, threatening coastal cities and small island nations. -
Extreme Weather
Global warming intensifies hurricanes, droughts, heatwaves, and heavy rainfall. These events disrupt food supplies, destroy infrastructure, and displace populations. -
Loss of Biodiversity
Changing temperatures and habitats put stress on wildlife, leading to extinction or forced migration of many species. -
Human Health Risks
Heatwaves, water scarcity, and the spread of vector-borne diseases like malaria are becoming more common due to climate change. So lets make a change and pollute less by not turning the lights ,AC's ,and other things which produce green house gases on unnecessarily.
