Comets are icy objects made of dust, gas, and frozen particles. They travel in long, oval paths around the Sun. When a comet comes close to the Sun, it heats up and forms a glowing head and a long bright tail. Comets are often called “cosmic messengers” because they carry ancient material from the early universe.
