Apart from being a poet, Sarojini Naidu played a major role in India’s freedom movement. She was deeply inspired by Mahatma Gandhi and joined him in the fight against British rule. She participated in important movements like the Non-Cooperation Movement and the Civil Disobedience Movement. She travelled across the country, giving inspiring speeches and encouraging people to fight for independence.
Sarojini Naidu also worked for women’s rights and encouraged women to participate in the freedom struggle. She believed in equality and strongly supported women’s education and empowerment. In 1925, she became the first Indian woman to become the President of the Indian National Congress.
