National Pollution Control Day is observed on December 2nd to remember the 1984 Bhopal Gas Tragedy and to raise awareness about the dangers of industrial disasters and pollution. The day encourages people to take steps to prevent pollution, such as reducing waste, using public transport, and choosing eco-friendly options, while promoting safer practices in industries to protect both public health and the environment.
The steps which I can take to contribute are:
- Practicing the 3 Rs: Reduce, reuse, and recycle to cut down on waste .
- Conserving Energy: Turning off lights and unpluging appliances when not in use. Using energy-efficient light bulbs.
- Conserving Water: Repairing leaky faucets, using water wisely in daily activities to reduce wastewater runoff.
- Planting Trees: Trees act as natural air filters, absorbing carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen.
- Choosing Non-Toxic Chemicals: Opt for eco-friendly or non-toxic cleaning products for my home.
