The Partition of Bengal took place in 1905 during British rule in India. The British divided Bengal into two parts, East Bengal and West Bengal, claiming it was for administrative efficiency. However, many Indians saw it as a way to weaken nationalist movements by separating Hindus and Muslims. The partition sparked widespread protests, boycotts, and the Swadeshi Movement, where people promoted Indian goods. Due to strong opposition, the British eventually reversed the partition in 1911
