India’s Panchamrit Commitments on Carbon Emission
Do you know ? , At COP26 in Glasgow, India announced the Panchamrit, five major commitments to reduce carbon emissions and fight climate change. These steps show India’s vision for a sustainable and responsible future.
1. 500 GW Non-Fossil Fuel Capacity by 2030
India aims to increase clean energy like solar, wind, and hydro to 500 gigawatts. This will reduce dependence on coal and fossil fuels.
2. 50% Energy from Renewables by 2030
Half of India’s total energy requirements will be met from renewable sources. This is a big shift towards green power.
3. Reduction of 1 Billion Tonnes of Emissions
India has committed to cut down 1 billion tonnes of carbon emissions by 2030.
4. 45% Reduction in Carbon Intensity
India will reduce the carbon intensity of its economy by 45% by 2030. This means development will continue, but with less pollution.
5. Net Zero by 2070
India will achieve Net Zero emissions by 2070, balancing all carbon emissions with absorption and removal.
What Can We Do?
These national commitments will succeed only if citizens also take action. Some simple steps include:
Using bicycles or walking for short distances instead of motorbikes.
Choosing public transport and carpooling.
Planting more trees and protecting green spaces.
Saving electricity by switching off lights and fans when not needed.
Practicing reduce, reuse, and recycle at home and school.
India’s Panchamrit is not just a government plan—it is a national responsibility. Every small action we take to reduce carbon emissions will help build a cleaner, healthier, and stronger future for all !!
