UN Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 15, "Life on Land," aims to protect, restore, and promote the sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, including forests, mountains, and drylands. It seeks to combat desertification, restore degraded lands, and halt biodiversity loss by promoting sustainable forest management, protecting ecosystems and their services, and ending poaching and trafficking of protected species. The Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, adopted in 2022, provides renewed political impetus to achieve SDG 15 by 2050.
