India’s Freedom Struggle and Independence
India gained independence from British rule on August 15, 1947, after nearly 200 years of colonial rule. The freedom struggle was a long and challenging journey marked by sacrifices, movements, and the leadership of brave individuals.
Leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Subhas Chandra Bose, and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel played key roles. Gandhi’s principle of non-violence and civil disobedience inspired millions to protest peacefully against British laws.
Movements such as the Non-Cooperation Movement, Dandi March, and the Quit India Movement brought the nation together in its fight for freedom. Countless freedom fighters, both known and unknown, gave their lives for the country.
Finally, on 15th August 1947, India became a free nation. Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister, hoisted the Indian flag at the Red Fort in Delhi, marking a new beginning for the country.
India’s independence is a symbol of unity, courage, and determination. It reminds us to cherish our freedom and work together for a better future
